Pilates After Physical Therapy & Injuries
Many people come to Lift Pilates after physical therapy ends or while recovering from an injury.
Physical therapy can help address pain, restore function, and improve movement, but many people still need a structured plan to continue building strength, mobility, balance, and confidence.
At Lift Pilates, you'll follow an individualized program designed specifically for your body, goals, injury history, and experience level. Rather than repeating the same exercises as everyone else, you'll progress through a personalized classical Pilates program that evolves as you do.
Whether you're recovering from an injury, managing back or neck pain, returning to exercise after a setback, or simply want to keep moving well for years to come, Lift Pilates can help you continue progressing long after physical therapy has ended.
Who This Is For
This approach may be a good fit for you if you are:
• Recovering from an injury
• Continuing your progress after physical therapy
• Managing back or neck pain
• Recovering from a hip or knee replacement
• Looking to improve balance and stability
• Managing osteoporosis or concerns about bone health
• Returning to exercise after time away
• Experiencing ongoing stiffness or mobility limitations
• Looking for individualized guidance rather than a one-size-fits-all workout
If you're unsure whether Lift Pilates is right for you, please reach out. I'd be happy to discuss your goals and help you determine the best place to start.
Why Lift Pilates Is Different
Unlike many Pilates studios that focus primarily on reformer classes, Lift Pilates teaches the complete classical Pilates system using a full range of equipment, including the Reformer, Cadillac, Wunda Chair, Ladder Barrel, Spine Corrector, and Mat.
Every client follows an individualized program designed around their goals, experience level, and physical needs. During classes, I provide hands-on corrections, coaching, exercise progressions, and regular program updates to help clients continue improving over time.
This isn't a cookie-cutter workout where everyone does the same routine. It's a structured, progressive approach that helps clients build strength, improve mobility, develop better balance and coordination, and gain confidence in how they move.
Whether you're recovering from an injury or simply want a more personalized approach to Pilates, you'll receive ongoing guidance and support every step of the way.
Why Train With Laura Shearer?
I've been teaching Pilates for more than 20 years and have worked extensively with clients recovering from injuries, managing physical limitations, and returning to activity after physical therapy.
My training includes post-rehabilitation Pilates, comprehensive classical Pilates education, and ongoing study with some of the most respected teachers in the Pilates community. My work is rooted in the original method of Contrology as taught by Joseph Pilates and passed down through first-generation teacher Jay Grimes. Today, I continue my studies through ongoing mentorship and professional development.
Over the years, I've worked with clients of all ages and abilities, including those recovering from injury, managing chronic pain, addressing balance concerns, and seeking to maintain strength and mobility as they age.
My goal is simple: to help you move better, get stronger, and continue progressing through a structured, individualized Pilates program designed specifically for you.
What To Expect
Every new client begins with a private session. During this session, we'll discuss your goals, injury history, movement concerns, and previous experience with Pilates or exercise.
I'll assess how you move, answer your questions, and begin designing a personalized Pilates program based on your individual needs and goals.
From there, you may continue with private sessions or join Lift Pilates Classes. Unlike traditional fitness classes, you'll follow your own individualized program while receiving ongoing coaching, hands-on corrections, exercise progressions, and regular program updates.
As your strength, mobility, balance, and confidence improve, your exercises will continue to evolve, helping you build a sustainable Pilates practice that supports your long-term health and well-being.
